 About Us

The SVPGC was founded in 1990 by the late Paul Brubaker, then Vice President for Development at Lebanon Valley College. We are a local chapter of the National Committee on Planned Giving, which is based in Indianapolis, IN. Although SVPGC is not limited by geographic area, our membership is composed of professionals primarily from eight counties in south central Pennsylvania: Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York.

Our mission statement is (adopted November 1992):
SVPGC will provide a network for colleagues to exchange ideas and services with opportunities for professional education. The council will provide an organized voice to raise consciousness about planned giving among donors and their advisors.

Our current activities are organzied around four primary functions:

  1. To provide ongoing education and information to professionals in the field of planned giving
  2. To promote the concepts of charitable planned giving, such as making gifts through estate plans or wills, to the general public
  3. To provide a forum for professional networking and ongoing development
  4. To advocate for governmental legislation and policies that enhance philanthropy and improve the charitable sector.

SVPGC is registered as a nonprofit organization under IRC 501(c)(3). Official registration and financial information may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State or by calling toll-free, 1-800-732-0999. Registration does not imply endorsement.
